Best Time to Visit Mauritius

The beautiful island paradise of Mauritius is inside the Tropic of Capricorn where you will feel the cold at the time of the year. The Winter season starts from May to November when the temperature averages 2C on the coast, and a few degrees lower in the high interior.

Summer starts from December to April that brings high temperatures of around 30C and humidity is a bit higher. Not to mention cyclones that can hit at any point during this time, but are most likely in January and February.

The best time to explore Mauritius is counted from September to December when the warm temperatures and the lowest rainfall is common.

How to Reach Mauritius?

Mauritius airport – named Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Airport or Plaisance, is the main airport on the southeast coast and is around 50km from Port Louis. There are regular flights from different nations to Mauritius. Some of them also operate seasonal flights from October to March.

You can hire a taxi from the airport or take a bus that passes the roundabout outside and will take you across the island at a very low fare. Gare Du Nord and Victoria Square are two main bus stands in Port Louis connecting different islands and destinations. Boats are commonly used to reach different islands. Dhonis are also commonly used that are small boats.
