The ways you can reach Kedarnath Dham

By air

The nearest airport to Kedarnath Dham is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which is 250 km away. You can find an airline that will take you there if you plan on travelling by airplane. A taxi will be available when you leave the airport.

By road

Delhi is the closest state to Kedarnath and Kedarnath is highly connected to the Delhi road. From Delhi, you will be able to get direct buses to Dehradun. The journey from Delhi to Dehradun is only 260 km. This route is along with the Indian Capital; Kashmere Gate Terminal and Anand Vihar Bus Terminal are two major interstate bus terminals. An area where the bus service is continuous. Various bus options exist here.

By train

Umm! Taking the train to Kedarnath Dham is not possible, but you can take the train to Rishikesh, which is 210 kilometres away. Almost every major city is accessible from the railway station in Rishikesh, so travelling by train will not be an issue.

Shankaracharya Samadhi

The legend claims that in the 8th century, Sri Srikankaracharya, a devotee of Advaita Philosophy, built this temple and one of his four Mathas in this area. Upon reaching the age of 32, he reached Nirvana here.

Gauri Kund Temple

It is famous as the last road to the head before the Kedarnath Yatra begins, where the pilgrimage starts as well. In the vicinity of the Mandakini River, Gaurikund is renowned as the spiritual and religious center of the Hindu faith. Gauri Lake and Gauri Kund Temple are prominent landmarks, both located at an altitude of approximately 2,060 meters above sea level. The route became significantly safer for pilgrims after it was severely damaged by highly severe floods in 2013.

On a route leading from Gopeshwar to Ukhimath, it is situated approximately 36 km from Guptkashi. Visiting the place during the winter is the best time to enjoy its beauty and charm.

This quaint lake in Uttarakhand, also known as Gandhi Tal, is located about three kilometres from the Kedarnath Temple. Aside from the regular visitors, the crystal clear, beautiful lake is a magnet for tourists worldwide. The lake is perched at 3900 m above sea level in a picturesque setting backed by the breathtaking Himalayas. There is a short hike from Kedarnath Temple to Chorabari Tal, which originates from the Chorabari Bamak Glacier.

Syalsaur, which is approximately 160 km from Haridwar at an elevation of about 820 masl, is situated on the Mandakini River, a tributary of the Alokananda River. The best time to visit the Kedarnath temple is during the summer when it’s warm. You can also see the Badrinath temple during these months. Yamunotri and Goguntatri are at high altitudes, so their summer starts late, near the end of April.
